This help page is still under construction, however, what is here so far should be a very good place to start if you are new to the site and need a bit of help finding your way around.

Getting Started

The Jaco Wire is almost exclusively user-run. Because we don’t make massive revenues, we could never afford to hire someone around the clock to update this site with new content all the time. We rely on the end users to keep the site active by sharing your information with others on the site. Submitting content is extremely easy once you get the hang of it, even if you’re not technologically inclined, and this will serve as a step by step tutorial on how to add your news articles, attractions/business listings, events, links, etc to the site.

Setting Up Your Account

First things first. If you haven’t already, you are going to have to sign up for an account with JacoWire.com. Luckily, it's a pain-free process and enables you to build an online identity with fellow site members and readers. All that is required of you is an email address and a couple minutes of spare time. To get things started, let’s create a new account first.

Registration

We’ll start things off in a new browser window so you don’t loose this one. Click Here and it will pop up a new window (make sure your pop-up blocker doesn’t stop it from coming up) with the registration form. Fill out the form, all fields should be self-explanatory. The field asking you to verify the password means you must enter the password twice to ensure you typed it correctly. If you hover your mouse over the Information Icon icon, it will give you a more detailed description of what to put in that field. Please note that only fields with the Required Field Icon are actually required, if you want you can leave it blank. A Hidden Profile Field Icon icon means that this field will NOT be viewable by any other people other than the site administrators.

After clicking on the Send Registration button, an email will be sent to your email address. Check your email for message from This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Follow the instructions inside, which will ask you to click on a link to confirm your email. Once you have clicked it, your registration will be complete and you will be able to log into the site.

Logging In

Now that you have an account, it’s time to log into the site. Click on the Home link at the top left of the JacoWire.com website to take you back to the index page. If you’ve lost your second window (so you don’t move away from this help page), you can Click Here to open a new page. Now on the left side of the page, you will see a black Site Login form where you can enter your username and password. Enter the username and password you used to sign up with during the registration process.

If you are using your own personal computer, feel free to check the Remember me box so you dont have to log in every time you come to the site. Lastly, click on the Login button to finish logging in.

If you seem to be having trouble logging in, make sure you don’t have caps-lock set on your keyboard. If you can't remember your password, you can click on the Lost Password? link that's right below the Login button.

The User Menu

The user menu is the hub for everything you can do within The Jaco Wire. It will only appear (which is on the left side) while you are logged in, and disappears when you log out. What follows is a brief description of what each menu item does. This menu is always changing as more and more features are added to The Jaco Wire, so feel free to learn by experimenting with anything that isn’t listed here. For more information on how to use a certain feature, look for the more detailed help after this section.

My Profile

...is your administration panel for your own personal and profile information. In the My Profile link, you can see your vital stats such as when you were last online, when you last logged in, when you registered, and your avatar picture. Under the Edit link on top, you can update your profile including your name, email address, and password.

Submit News

...will bring up the form to add news articles for others to view. All articles have to be reviewed by a member of the Administrative team before they are posted directly to the website to avoid potential spam and ensure the content’s quality, after which if approved will appear live on the site for others to view.

Please note that you can not, and should not, simply navigate away from this page. You should either cancel or save your work using the icons at the top right in order to avoid orphaned articles from appearing.

Submit Attraction

...is the form used to add your business listing to our attractions directory. Clicking on this page will bring up a form that will allow you to upload your own pictures and logo, as well as enter the description and information about your business.

Submit Event

...will allow you to mark your upcoming events in the Events Calendar. This is a great way to add exposure to your event, whether its Ladies Night at your bar every Sunday or a big concert two months away. Upcoming events are also displayed in a box to the right of the front page in order of next event coming up.

Submit Weblink

...simply lets you add links you think others might find interesting on the net to our database. Please only submit links relevant to the area that other people would benefit from visiting.

Check-In My Items

...might seem a little confusing at first. It allows you to check-in all your items (news articles, web links, attractions, etc) so that you can work on them again if your browser crashed or you navigated away from the page by accident.

Logout

...does just that of course, logs you out of the site. Click this if you are done working on or with the site, especially if you are using a computer that is not your own private machine as others could have access to edit your content afterwards.
